I have been searching for a long while to disable the arrow and I found this free small Software which lets you Remove that Nasty Shortcut arrow and also allows you to change it in different styles if you like to keep the arrow and change the arrow style.
Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor allows you to remove or change the shortcut arrow in Windows 7 and Windows 8. It is also supported by Vista.
